Drone LiDAR surveying with petrol/electric hybrid system

Innoflight International along with RIEGL Australia recently held a demonstration showcasing the new hybrid-electric ScanLift Orbit coupled with RIEGL’s latest top of the range VUX-160 LiDAR. The VUX-160 is truly state of the art technology and Innoflight were the first UAV company in Australia to have flown this as a payload using a hybrid-electric UAS.

Andrew Cottee of Innoflight writes, “Suffice to say the demonstration was a resounding success with over 30 people attending representing a multitude of companies from various sectors including some heavyweights from the mining industry. The spectacular capabilities and sheer power of our ScanLift Orbit with its cutting edge iHE7 hybrid-electric generator raised more than a few eyebrows!”

“We have been asked numerous times about the maximum climb rate of our ScanLift Orbit with the iHE7 hybrid-electric generator as other market options are very limited in climb rates due to generator power output limits. It is sometimes hard to get honest specifications out of UAV manufacturers but we stand by our specifications as they are based on true hard test data. We flew the VUX-160 payload (5.1kg plus mount) at 1,000ft AGL and the resulting data speaks for itself. Below shows the true output of the generator having no issues whatsoever climbing at 4m/S while maintaining full voltage (49v) and 70amps!”
